SINCE I SAID YES

11. SINCE I SAID YES

Since I said Yes to this road

Signed up for all You plainly showed

I’ve seen the dream so worn and frayed

Watched the hopeful flowers fade

Met with sleet and driving rain

Times there was so little gain

All the ugly, bad, and good

Things I’ve never understood

Only Your Word to spur me on

When it seemed all else was gone

Yet looking back on all Your care

Now I know that You were there

And since I set upon this road

I’ve seen You bear my every load

My Yes was firm and not rehearsed

But I don't forget You said it first.
