A TURN FOR THE WORSE
14. A TURN FOR THE WORSE
Now concerning that above
You’ve had no less than one
Born squirming and a-squalling
Grieved for old life done
Best to mark the pattern
Or risk you’ll play the fool
For things to go all pear-shaped
Is quite the firmest rule
Tis ‘specially so in saint’s life
That grief is wont to flow
Go from Ur to shabby tent
In track of Abram’s woe
Joseph was so pampered
Ere his life hit snags
Lost his dreams in a day
Swapped his coat for rags
Or think of Mighty Moses
A royal name he did keep
Till he saw a bush aflame
And traded it for sheep
David when anointed
Waxed worse and ever worse
Ran from Saul to desert cave
So bad he took to verse!
All went through the pyre
Just like those famous lads
Learned a life of trials
Is how Heaven turns out grads
So when favour guised as woe
Is given from His stores
Know that all accords with plan
But this is His plan not yours!
