THE MEN AT THE WELL

 THE MEN AT THE WELL

Still she lingers in her den

Still down there, those thirteen men

Voices echo, blunt and terse

(Jewish too, which makes it worse)

Back home lies strife, a mangled life

Lingers too that simmered strife

At last the men begin to move!

File away to look for food

Grabs her jar then deeply sighs

One of them has stayed behind!

But he's just one man

And she's reached the brim

Why wait now?

She'll handle him!
